More tests on compounds to control rice water weevils are being conducted by Natalie Hummel, LSU AgCenter entomologist, at five locations across Louisiana.

She said the two main products, Dermacor and CruiserMaxx, used as seed treatments have shown effectiveness.

A yield difference of 1,000 pounds was found last year between an untreated field and one that received the seed treatment, she said.
