Farmers across the Midwest and North Delta who participated in a side-by-side trial program this season are pleased to report advanced weed control and higher yields with Asgrow® brand Genuity® Roundup Ready 2 Yield® soybeans compared to LibertyLink® soybeans.

The objective of the trial program, involving 31 plot locations, was to demonstrate that farmers don’t have to sacrifice the superior, high yield potential of Asgrow soybeans by switching to the LibertyLink soybean system to control resistant, tough-to-manage weeds, such as pigweed, marestail, giant ragweed and common waterhemp.

This year’s findings are consistent with those of a similar trial conducted last season in the Delta. In that program, Asgrow soybean plots achieved a yield advantage of more than 6 bushels per acre, powered by the Asgrow brand’s exclusive genetics, strong defensive packages and leading soybean trait technology. In addition to higher yield, Asgrow soybeans either matched or outperformed LibertyLink in terms of weed control.

During this year’s side-by-side trial program, Asgrow farmers followed the Roundup Ready PLUS™ Weed Management Solutions. The Roundup Ready PLUS platform offers weed management recommendations developed in conjunction with leading academics and industry partners, including the use of pre-emergence residual herbicides to provide multiple modes of action against problem weeds.

Following the Roundup Ready PLUS platform is one component of the Asgrow 4P System – PLAN, PLANT, PROTECT and PERFORM – which is a year-long approach that gives farmers the opportunity to increase the yield potential and profitability of their Asgrow soybeans. For the LibertyLink trial plots, participants followed local recommendations for that system, which include the use of residual herbicides.

This large scale, side-by-side trial program strongly supports the conclusion that farmers have the opportunity to control resistant weeds without sacrificing their soybean yield.

Along with showcasing proven weed control and enhanced yields by Asgrow soybeans, these trials have helped to dispel the misconception that LibertyLink is easier to use than Genuity Roundup Ready 2 Yield technology, since successful weed control for both systems requires residual herbicides. In addition, Asgrow soybeans are able to control a broader weed spectrum and offer more application timing flexibility.
