Prevathon a breakthrough for cotton, corn worm control

Pending state approvals for growers across the cotton and corn belts, the breakthrough mode of action offered by Prevathon, powered by DuPont Rynaxypyr, provides superior protection against a broad range of the most yield damaging worms, including European corn borer, cotton bollworm, beet armyworm, fall armyworm, saltmarsh caterpillar, southern armyworm, corn earworm, and western yellowstriped armyworm.

With the recent U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) registration of DuPont Prevathon insect control, cotton and corn growers now have the ability to achieve maximum yield potential and profitability, while maintaining effective worm control.

“Cotton and corn growers now have greater flexibility in achieving high yields with improved insect control,” said John Chrosniak, regional director, North America — DuPont Crop Protection. “Field trials have proven that Prevathon provides outstanding worm control in conventional cotton and corn crops (including seed corn production), even under heavy pest pressure, resulting in quality crops that yield greater value at market.”

Prevathon also enhances grower profitability by replacing the multiple spray applications required with other insecticide programs. Prevathon provides powerful, long-lasting residual activity, for fewer seasonal applications, controlling the most challenging pests with an environmentally favorable profile.

Cotton and corn growers are some of the first to benefit from Prevathon insect control. “We’re pleased to introduce Prevathon to the cotton and corn markets,” said Chrosniak. “We also look forward to extending the benefits of this product to other markets where growers benefit from improved insect control.”
