Ag Expo 2009, sponsored by the North Louisiana Agri-Business Council, will be held Jan. 16-17 at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe, La. Show hours Friday are 2 to 8 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The educational and networking event is attended by more than 10,000 residents and businessmen from Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas and Mississippi every year.

The trade show will feature exhibits of farm equipment, technology, products and services of agri-businesses.

Ag Alley, an educational exhibit coordinated by LSU Ag Center will feature a mini-farm, cotton, horticulture and a special natural habitant wildlife exhibit. Elsie the Cow with “Beau” and Smokey Bear will make appearances. Antique Tractors will be on display. Both educational exhibits and sampling of many Louisiana commodities will be featured at the show, including beef, dairy, rice, poultry and egg, and catfish.

There is also a Junior Livestock Show. Rabbits will show Friday evening, and all other categories including beef, dairy, goats, swine and sheep will show on Saturday. A Forestry Forum of special interest to timber landowners will be held on Saturday morning at the Hilton Garden Inn, across from the Ike Hamilton Expo Center. It will require separate registration, and can also be accessed through the www.agexpo.org.
