The Department of Agriculture will then report to Congress on the forecasted effects that increasing these or other fixed payments will have on rice producers (including tenant rice producers), the rice milling industry, and the economies of rice farming areas in Texas.
Rodney Brown, deputy undersecretary for research, education, and economics, will host the session. The meeting will be from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the auditorium of the USDA/Agricultural Research Service, Child Nutrition Research Center, 1100 Bates St., in Houston.
