Trailer-mounted gensets deliver versatile irrigation power

Countless farmers depend on irrigation to improve crop quality and increase yield.

To help deliver portable, dependable power where needed, New Market Agricultural Equipment Co. (NMAEC) offers MasPower trailer-mounted irrigation pumpsets and generators from Mastry Engine Center.

NMAEC of New Market, Ala., has served northern Alabama and southern Tennessee agricultural customers for over 50 years. It prides itself on excellent service and the area's most extensive parts department.

John Flake, NMAEC general manager, explained that a strong move from cotton to grain in the Southeast has made corn a leading crop. With it comes an increasing reliance on irrigation.

"Corn and other grains can consume as much as .30" of water per day at peak growth time," he said.

"By providing our customers with trailer-mounted MasPower units, we're able to put pivots in areas that are inaccessible or too cost-prohibitive to run with utility power," said Flake. "Not having a reliable generator to provide power to water crops during critical developmental stages would have a severe effect on yields."

Depending on each farm's needs, NMAEC recommends MasPower irrigation pumpsets, generators or combination units from 8.5 to 17.5 kW to help bring water to the fields and power the irrigation pivots.

"We typically choose a MasPower model that creates the maximum efficiency of both fuel consumption and power demand," said Flake.

Powered by a reliable Yanmar diesel engine, irrigation units come with a battery rack and cables, engine panel with automatic shutdown and a muffler.

Options include a weather hood; oil drain valve; Cornell or Berkley pumps; fuel tank, drum and base; PTO and clutches; Berkeley suction flanges and discharge prime valves; Murphy oil level and coolant level sight gauges; and an HP9/HP900 hand primer.

Mastry offers MasPower units in sizes to meet varying needs, with trailered, skid-mounted or side-mounted generators.

"The design of the fuel tank, mounted within the trailer, is a great feature and eliminates an additional item to bring to and from the field," said Flake. "With a portable unit, farmers can also easily bring them in out of the elements during the off season."

"We've had nothing but the best success in the utilization of MasPower products," Flake continued. "They're competitively priced, with superior reliability and parts availability."
