Sally Carson recognized for service

Sally Carson of Marks, Miss., was named the 2005 Good Middling Lady of the Year, an honor presented to her at the 70th annual meeting of Delta Council in Cleveland, Miss. The Good Middling Lady Award, which is named after the superior grade of cotton, is given to the person who has sustained efforts on behalf of improving the livability of people in the Delta area and promoted the economic and social welfare of citizens of the Delta.

They are recognized as individuals who have provided effective leadership and unselfish efforts for the benefit of all citizens of northwest Mississippi through the work of Delta Council.

“The individuals who have received this recognition in the past are the workers throughout every community who make things happen and give of their time to improve the Delta,” said Gerard Mohamed, Belzoni, Miss., Delta Council Arrangements Committee chair. “Sally Carson is recognized in Quitman County and throughout the Delta for that kind of leadership and service.”

Carson, a native of Hattiesburg, is a graduate of the University of Mississippi. She is a member of the board of directors for the Quitman County Education Foundation, an officer for Delta Delta Delta, Chi Chapter House Corporation, and a member of the board of directors of the Southern Debutante Assembly.

She also is a past president of the Delta Council Arrangements Committee. She and her husband, Bobby, have three children.
