THE LOUISIANA Rice Research Station will hold its annual Rice Field Day June 28. The station is located about 1 mile east of Crowley, La., off U.S. Highway 90 on Caffey Road, just north of Interstate 10.
The day will include: Tours of field research, beginning at 8:00 a.m., and a poster display and ‘Ask the Plant Doctor’ session from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. The main program will begin at 11:00 a.m., followed by a barbecue lunch at noon.
Field tours will include: Eric Webster, rice weed control; Steve Linscombe, rice variety development; Michael Stout, rice insect control; Jim Oard, rice genetics; Johnny Saichuk, current problems and research update; Patrick Bollich, rice fertilization and production practices.
The program will include a report on the activities of the Louisiana Rice Research Board from R. E. Girouard, chairman.
