The USRPA also named Dan Gertson of Lissie, Texas as vice chairman and Gibb Steele of Hollandale, Miss. as secretary/treasurer. Williams, Gertson and Steele will serve two one-year terms.
“These are men that are truly dedicated to the task at hand – to represent rice farmers in Washington on a national level as well as in state government and local affairs,” said USRPA President & CEO Dwight Roberts. “With officers of this caliber working together, we look forward to doing whatever it takes to ensure rice farmers are better informed, better represented and have a better bottom line.
“It’s leadership of this quality that makes for a brighter future for all rice producers.”
Canon expressed his gratitude to the USRPA board of directors for their cooperation during his tenure and said he looked forward to continuing to work with the new leadership of USRPA.
The U S Rice Producers Association represents rice farmers in Mississippi, Missouri, Texas, California, Arkansas and Louisiana.
