Tessenderlo Kerley, Inc. has announced the purchase of the linuron herbicide assets from DuPont Crop Protection, Wilmington, Del. Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Linuron herbicide is marketed globally under the DuPont Lorox and Linex brands, as well as several associated mixture trademarks. This specialty herbicide is used primarily in the carrot, asparagus, celery, potato, cotton and soybean markets. TKI will acquire global rights to the linuron business, including trade names, registrations and registration data.
Jordan Burns, CEO of TKI, stated, “TKI is committed to expanding the crop protection range of our company. We intend to continue building our NovaSource Crop Protection Group with the addition of strategic products as they become available”.
Marketing and development responsibility for the linuron product will be undertaken by TKI’s business unit, NovaSource (www.novasource.com). NovaSource is charged with marketing and developing registered pesticides for niche crop protection and specialty markets. According to David Cassidy, Group vice-president, “the acquisition of the linuron herbicide is another step in the planned expansion of the company’s niche crop protection product portfolio following the acquisition of Sinbar from DuPont and Surround from BASF in 2007”.
TKI operates 10 manufacturing plants in North America, in addition to an extensive terminal network (www.tkinet.com).
