SEQUENCE HERBICIDE, from Syngenta Crop Protection, which provides non-selective down-to-the-roots weed control and residual weed control in one application, is now available for use on soybeans.
“With the U.S. EPA registration of Sequence on soybeans in October 2004, our herbicide portfolio now offers growers a broad range of products to fit their needs,” said Corey Huck, Sequence brand manager. “Sequence will be available to soybean growers who desire a herbicide that offers both superior weed control and weed resistance management capabilities in one product.”
Sequence minimizes time dealing with weeds by delivering knockdown power plus residual control in a single pass. With two modes of action in one product, Sequence broadens the window of opportunity for flexible application timing and extends the performance of a glyphosate-based herbicide program.
“Sequence delivers a sufficient dose of two herbicidal modes of action in a single product. The first herbicidal component locks the enzyme responsible for production of three important amino acids necessary for plant growth and development, while a second component inhibits lipid synthesis and cell development in weeds through a multi-site, non-specific mode of action,” said Chuck Foresman, technical brand manager for Sequence. “It's an outstanding choice for growers seeking diversity in their chemical rotations.”
Sequence provides control of 170 emerged weeds and residual control of many small-seeded broadleaves and grasses including barnyardgrass, crabgrass, foxtails, pigweeds, waterhemp and goosegrass.
Designed for postemergence use, Sequence should be applied to glyphosate-tolerant soybeans prior to the third trifoliate with application rates from 2.5 to 3 pints per acre. It will deliver one to three weeks residual weed control on several grasses and small-seeded broadleaves. Sequence may also be used in conventional soybeans pre-emergence.
