Rice planting is below the five-year average for three of six states, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Crop Progress Report issued Monday. Planting in Missouri is 33 percentage points lower, while Arkansas is 12 percentage points lower and California is 10 percentage points lower. The percentage of rice emerged is on par with the five-year average.
