SPORTSMEN HAVE long since competed against each other for bragging rights. The person with the most impressive shot, the biggest deer, or the most successful duck hunter always gets the glory. This year, Delta Wildlife, will be giving sportsmen, women, and children an additional opportunity to compete for bragging rights...and cash prizes.
More than $7,000 in cash and prizes will be given to winners and top finishers in each of the following events. Award presentations will be made for all events on Saturday afternoon, on the main stage at the 2000 Delta Wildlife EXPO.
1st Annual Delta Wildlife Bass Tournament For many anglers in the Mid-South, Lake Ferguson has long been known for large numbers of big bass. It is also well known for its excellent fall fishing. On November 4th, Delta Wildlife will be hosting the 1st Annual Delta Wildlife Bass Tournament on Lake Ferguson.
The tournament will be a "buddy tournament," as teams of two will fish for prize money in excess of $4,000. This includes a minimum 1st Place prize of $1,500, Big Bass Pot, and $500 bonus for the highest finishing Delta Wildlife member team.

1st Annual Delta Wildlife EXPO Archery Tournament Sponsored by Farmers, Inc. As we are in the middle of archery season, it wouldn't be fair to archers if Delta Wildlife didn't have an archery tournament, too. Sponsored and hosted by the Co-op at Farmers, Inc., the 1st Annual Delta Wildlife EXPO Archery Tournament will be held at the Washington County EXPO Building on the Convention Center grounds on Saturday, November 4th.
The archery tournament layout will consist of 6 lighted 3-D targets at various ranges. Each archer will shoot a sequence and be scored based on IBO rules. Shooting classes will include Compound, Traditional, and Youth for ages 15 and under. An adult must accompany youth archers.
The archery tournament will begin at 1:00 p.m. and continue through 5:00 p.m. Archers will compete for prizes in excess of $2,000, including a random $500.00 drawing for all registered archers.
National Wild Turkey Federation "Jakes" Turkey Calling Contest Turkey season is a long way off, but for serious turkey hunters, a turkey-calling contest is just what the doctor ordered to get them through to the next season. Unfortunately, this contest is not for all turkey hunters; it's only for "Jakes." A Jake is a young, immature gobbler, but the National Wild Turkey Federation considers all turkey hunters under the age of 15 as "Jakes."
Delta Wildlife, the National Wild Turkey Federation, and Quaker Boy Game Calls will be hosting a NWTF "Jakes" turkey calling contest at 11:00 a.m. on the main stage at the 2000 Delta Wildlife EXPO.
There will be two divisions, a 10 - 15 year old division, and a 9 and under division. Each division will compete in 3 classes: friction calls, mouth calls, and natural voice. Prizes will be given to winners and top finishers in each division, and each class.
Contestants must be a "Jakes" member of the NWTF. If your children would like to enter and are not current members of the NWTF, they may join the NWTF for $5 at the Delta Wildlife booth any time before the contest Saturday at 11:00 a.m. No entry fee is required other than proof of "Jakes" membership.
