GREENLEAF TECHNOLOGIES has released a new nozzle specifically designed for use with acid-based chemicals, particularly the cotton defoliant CottonQuik.

Recent testing has shown improved penetration and coverage with the AirMix when compared to the conventional hollow cone tips often used for cotton defoliation, according to Greenleaf Technologies, which said the venturi-type nozzles increased defoliation of cotton at both seven days after treatment and 14 days after treatment.

The AMCQ nozzles, available in five sizes (110015, 02, 03, 04, 05, and 06) are made entirely of acid-resistant polypropylene. Most plastic nozzles are made from polyacetyl plastic, which is preferred for its long-wearing properties. Polyacetyl plastic, however, breaks down quickly and becomes brittle when used with acid-based chemicals. An acid-resistant cap (CO6PP) is also available.

Greenleaf Technologies recommends farmers, contract sprayers and specialty applicators stock a set of AMCQ nozzles specifically (and only) for use with acid-based chemicals.

Greenleaf's line of AirMix nozzles are compact, economical air injection nozzles designed to improve penetration and coverage. Higher pressures (50-90 psi) are recommended for defoliation applications.

No tools are required for servicing the nozzle, which fits standard caps.

Greenleaf Technologies is based in Covington, La., and distributes in the United States and Canada.
