The Mississippi Agricultural Industry Council and the Mississippi Seedsmens’ Association will hold concurrent summer meetings July 27-30 at the Perdido Beach Resort in Orange Beach, Ala.

The meeting begins July 27 with a half-day educational program aimed at providing updates that qualify for certified crop adviser units.

The Early Bird reception is July 27 from 6 to 7 p.m. The registration desk will be open from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Registration begins again at 8 a.m., July 28.

The opening session begins July 28 at 1:30 p.m. and resumes at 8:30 a.m., July 29.

Tentative speakers for the event include Kater Hake with Delta and Pineland Co., speaking on the future of biotechnology; Cindy Hyde-Smith, chairperson of the Mississippi Senate Agriculture Committee, with a legislative update; Kenny Cordelle with UAP, addressing the future of agribusiness.

The keynote speaker will be Mississippi State University baseball coach Ron Polk, who will speak at 9:40 a.m., July 29. The meeting adjourns after the morning business session on July 30.

The summer meeting includes recreational activities such as golf and deep sea fishing, children’s activities and the annual awards banquet.
