Pecan Research Station field day June 13

The LSU AgCenter’s annual field day and open house at the Pecan Research Extension Station will be June 13. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m., followed by lunch. The event ends at 4 p.m.

Tours and equipment exhibits will highlight the station’s research programs. Faculty and staff will be available to discuss their research and answer questions.

Topics to be covered include pesticide usage and safety; thinning of the pathology orchard and management of pecan bacterial leaf scorch disease; thinning of the rootstock orchard and influence of rootstock on pecan production; and pecan insect control.

Reservations for lunch are requested and are needed by June 9.

The Pecan Research-Extension Station is located approximately 7 miles south of Bert Kouns Industrial Loop and just off Highway 1 (Youree Drive). The station is across from the port of Shreveport/Bossier water tower at the corner of Robson and Harts Island roads.
