Arkansas Women in Agriculture Conference scheduled

The 4th annual Arkansas Women in Agriculture Conference will be held Feb. 25-26 at the Wyndham Riverfront in North Little Rock, Ark.

Over 20,000 women are farm operators in Arkansas, a number that is expected to rise in coming years.
“Another highly informative educational conference is set for attendees,” said Carrie Hirmer, interim CEO, Arkansas Women in Agriculture, Inc. “In addition to the carefully selected topics to be discussed, the conference provides networking opportunities with other Arkansas women involved in agricultural and rural communities.”
Through the award of a cooperative agreement from the USDA Risk Management Agency (www.rma.usda.gov), Arkansas Women in Agriculture has the opportunity to offer more in-depth risk management topics such as estate planning, business strategy, marketing and more.
Other sessions offered at the conference include: bio-fuels; poultry; farmland values; goat marketing and GIS/precision agriculture as well as sessions dealing with personal growth, health and development. There will also be a presentation on the farm bill and what it could mean for Arkansas agriculture.
For the past three years, attendees have had the opportunity to help others while at the conference. Last year Arkansas Women in Agriculture partnered with Arkansas Rice Depot. Attendees donated items and assembled packs for the Rice Depot. Due to response to the project, it will be the focus project for 2008. Early registration is $45 for members and $55 for non-members. Early registration ends Feb. 1. Afterwards, one member registration is $70 and non-member registration is $80.
