Farm Press will publish World Ag Expo magazine, show guide

May 7, 2008 9:14 AM

Western Farm Press, a Penton Media publication, has been selected to be publisher of the official World Ag Expo magazine and show guide in 2009, according to Jerry Sinift, general manager of International Agri-Center.

The official magazine is distributed to thousands of farmers and ranchers across the United States preceding the opening of the worldwide event at Tulare, Calif.

The magazine is the primary news source for all official details and events for the three-day Expo scheduled for Feb. 10-12.

The show guide is distributed at the Expo gates and includes a map of places and happenings during the show.

“We are very pleased to partner with Penton,” Sinift said. “Their agriculture publications are known throughout the industry as reliable sources of ag news and information.

“I am very confident that our relationship will produce a strong magazine for the Expo and one that is useful to farmers looking for the latest technology across the globe.”

World Ag Expo is the world’s largest agricultural exposition, with 2.6 million square feet of exhibit space and more than 1,600 exhibitors; it attracts more than 100,000 attendees annually to the heart of the San Joaquin Valley.

“We are extremely excited about being selected as the official publication of the World Ag Expo,” said Greg Frey, group publisher for Farm Press Publications, which also publishes Delta Farm Press, Southwest Farm Press, and Southeast Farm Press.“The World Ag Expo is one of the nation’s premier farm shows, and we look forward to showcasing it in our Penton Media publications, on our Farm Press Web sites, and in other electronic venues.”

Harry Cline, long-time Western Farm Press editor, will work closely with the World Ag Expo staff in developing information about the event in the magazine, show guide, in the Farm Presses, and on Penton agricultural publication Web sites.

“It’s personally gratifying to have the opportunity to work with Jerry and his staff,” said Cline. “I first attended the Tulare farm equipment show more than 30 years ago, and have watched in amazement as it has evolved into an unparalleled exhibition of the latest equipment and services for not only California agriculture, but food and fiber production worldwide.

“We are very pleased to become an official part of World Ag Expo.”

The Expo, which features the latest in agricultural technology, is attended by farmers and agribusiness professionals from all over the United States and 74 countries. It began in 1968 as a local event at the Tulare County.

The first show attracted 157 exhibitors and 28,000 attendees and quickly grew into the largest event of its kind worldwide.

Located in the center of one of the richest and most diverse farming areas in the world, the Tulare location has proven accessible and attractive to farm equipment manufacturers and dealers.

The show’s educational seminars and new venues such as the new Dairy Technology Pavilion provide learning opportunities for thousands of visitors.

Penton Media, Inc., is the largest independent business-to-business media company in the United States, serving more than 6 million business professionals every month.

The company’s market-leading brands are focused on 30 industries and include 113 trade magazines, 145 Web sites, 150 industry trade shows and conferences, and more than 500 information data products.
