USDA’s Keenum nominated to FCA board

President Bush has nominated USDA Undersecretary for Farm and Foreign Agriculture Mark Keenum to be a Farm Credit Administration board member until May 2014. The president has not nominated Keenum’s replacement at the USDA. Both positions require Senate confirmation.
The FCA is an independent federal agency responsible for examining and regulating the Farm Credit System, a nationwide network of borrower-owned lending institutions and service organizations providing credit and related services to farmers, ranchers, agricultural cooperatives, and others.
The Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry has received Keenum’s nomination papers, but a confirmation hearing has not yet scheduled. The Senate is on recess this week and returns on July 7.
Keenum was chief of staff for Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., prior to his work for the Bush administration.
