Cache River Valley Seed Field Day Aug. 20

Jul 22, 2008 9:39 AM

The Cache River Valley Seed Field Day will be held Aug. 20, from 8:30 a.m. through lunch, at 12470 Hwy. 266 E. in Cash, Ark. This will be the 20th year for the comprehensive rice and soybean field day that draws more than 400 Mid-South growers and dealers.

“Growers really enjoy and benefit from this annual field day because they get to see the latest rice and soybean varieties and new technology in the field, all from air-conditioned buses,” Cache River general manager Marty Eaton says.

“What they see in August this year might be what they will plant in the spring next year. Rice breeders behind all of these varieties will make presentations and be available for questions. Also, representatives from companies that provide seed technology will be present.”

Rick Cartwright, plant pathologist at the University of Arkansas, will discuss rice diseases at the event. Other speakers include Tim Bradley, Benelli world-class exhibition shooter; Rep. Marion Berry of Arkansas; and John Brady, Arkansas State University’s new head basketball coach. Fifty season tickets for ASU basketball will be given away.

For more information about the field day, call (888) 278-7333 or go to www.crvseed.com.
