Soybean Research Conference Dec. 9

University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture scientists will discuss the latest research into several critical areas of soybean production at the annual Arkansas Soybean Research Conference Dec. 9 at the Brinkley Convention Center in Brinkley, Ark.
Jeremy Ross, Extension soybean specialist with the Division of Agriculture, said farmers, consultants, industry personnel, county agents and other interested persons are invited.
“Several important topics will be discussed, including glyphosate resistance, the soybean nematode situation and new soybean seed quality research and results of a seed survey,” Ross said.
“These talks will be more in depth and more science-oriented than what will be discussed in farm production meetings this winter. The presenters will be available to answer questions from the audience,” he said.
The speakers and their topics include: Jason Norsworthy, glyphosate resistance; Terry Kirkpatrick, soybean nematodes; Scott Monfort, disease update and the University of Arkansas disease screening program; and Rick Cartwright, soybean seed quality.
Ross said three University of Arkansas graduate students will also present talks. They are: Bobby Golden, fertility (phosphorus and potassium); Brad Davis, LibertyLink soybeans; and Amanda Greer, a new disease identified in 2008.
Registration is at 8 a.m. and the conference ends after a sponsored lunch at noon.
