Red River Research Station field day set for June 18

The LSU AgCenter’s annual field day and open house at its Red River Research Station will be held June 18 at the station in Bossier City, La.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with field tours at 9 a.m. and a program in the auditorium at 11 a.m.
The event will highlight research projects being conducted at the Red River Research Station, including studies on greenhouse tomatoes, agronomic crops, pest management with cotton and soybeans and other topics.
The program will include presentations on:
– Soybean and southern pea breeding.
– The performance of Avicta on corn.
– Early-season thrip control.
– Cotton varieties and production.
– Greenhouse tomato research.
– Soil test-based fertilizer recommendations for corn and soybeans.
– Poultry litter for cotton production and the effect on runoff water quality.
– Update on feed grain, wheat and soybean variety trials.

The research station is located off U.S. Highway 71, 3 miles south of the Jimmie Davis Bridge, at 262 Research Station Drive.
