National Cotton Council moves headquarters

The National Cotton Council has closed the doors on one era and opened the doors to another. NCC has moved from its previous headquarters at 1918 North Parkway in Memphis, a location it had occupied since 1955, into a new 18,400-square foot building at 7193 Goodlett Farms Parkway in Cordova, Tenn.
Larry McClendon, Marianna, Ark., cotton producer and NCC chairman, said the building on North Parkway “has served us very well, especially when the building housed a much larger staff. Many moved to other organizations such as the Cotton Producers Institute, which became Cotton Incorporated.
According to Mark Lange, NCC president, “The move will save in the annual operating costs of the council and allow for upgrades and modernization. The new facility is one-half the size of the old one, so there was a lot of shoehorning and a lot of good work by staff to make sure we had a space that would work for us, and that we would also preserve the history of the council.”
