USA Rice Federation board honors Al Montna

Al Montna, USA Rice Federation board chairman, was presented with a plaque in recognition of his dedicated service throughout his two-year term as board chairman. The plaque was presented during recent the USA Rice annual business meetings in Dallas.
During Montna’s term as board chairman, the rice industry faced extraordinary challenges, including the passage of the farm bill, the LibertyLink 601 rice event and subsequent efforts to rid the long-grain rice crop of the trait, and a change in senior staff leadership at USA Rice.
“Under Al’s leadership, USA Rice has been tremendously successful in meeting some of the toughest challenges we have faced within the rice industry,” said Jamie Warshaw, chief executive officer of Farmers Rice Milling Company, Inc., and newly-elected board chairman. “His capability and fortitude served the industry admirably during his tenure and we thank him for the extraordinary leadership throughout his term.”
“I’m honored by the recognition and truly believe that we have one of the best industry associations anywhere,” Montna said.
Montna’s term as board chairman ends on July 31.
