Mississippi agritourism conference Feb. 21

A Mississippi conference for agritourism entrepreneurs and those thinking about opening an agritourism business has been scheduled for Feb. 21 at the Mississippi Agricultural and Forestry Museum in Jackson, Miss.
The conference will include six educational sessions, opportunities to network with other entrepreneurs, and a catered meal.
“This conference will be a valuable resource for farmers who want to explore what it takes to set up an agritourism operation and what types of ventures are successful,” said Jo Lynn Mitchell, president of the Mississippi Agritourism Association. “They will hear firsthand from experienced successful agritourism operators who are willing to share their ideas.”
Among the speakers are: Daryl Jones and Wes Neal, Mississippi State University Wildlife and Fisheries specialists who will talk on fee fishing and hunting opportunities; Dan Franklin, owner, Buffalo Park, Tupelo, Miss., Jackie Tate, Tate Farms, Cotton Pickin’ Pumpkins, Meridianville, Ala., and Michael May, Lazy Acres Plantation, LLC, Chunky, Miss., all successful agritourism operators; and Stanley Wise, Mississippi State University Extension county director and owner of Wise Farms, New Albany, Miss., who will explain what it takes to get started in the agritourism business.
At the close of the conference there will be a short meeting of the Mississippi Agritourism Association.
The $25 registration fee for each attendee includes all sessions, all materials, lunch and snacks during the conference.
