Joint Louisiana Expo/Convention

Ag Expo 2010 and the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association Annual Convention will be held simultaneously in January in West Monroe, La., according to a joint announcement by the North Louisiana Agri-Business Council and the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association.
The 28th annual Ag Expo will be held Jan. 15-16 at the Ike Hamilton Expo, while the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association Annual Convention will be held Jan. 15-17 at the Hilton Garden Inn across the street. Ag Expo will be the official trade and livestock shows for the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association.
Historically, the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association annual meeting has been held in Baton Rouge the week prior to Ag Expo. Robert Joyner, executive director of the Cattlemen’s Association said, “The cooperation of the two events will offer expanded marketing opportunities to our vendors and diversified educational experiences to our members.”
Kay Shipp, president of the North Louisiana Agri-Business Association, stated “We are pleased with the LCA decision to conduct their show in sync with Ag Expo. We feel that Ag Expo will benefit with increased attendance from the Louisiana Cattlemen’s Association members, as well as increased number of exhibitors with focus on the cattle industry. And the real winners will be the attendees from the area, who will benefit from expanded education about how all facets of agriculture impacts our daily lives.”
Ag Expo is northeast Louisiana’s premier event showcasing all segments of agriculture important to the region, including corn, soybeans, cotton, rice, timber, catfish, poultry, beef and dairy cattle, horses, and many other Louisiana crops and agricultural byproducts.
The show is sponsored by the North Louisiana Agri-Business Council, a not-for-profit organization, with cooperation and assistance from the University of Louisiana-Monroe and Louisiana Tech departments of agriculture and LSU AgCenter. It features more than 100 exhibitors at its trade show, a Youth Livestock Show and an awards luncheon honoring area agricultural leaders.
