The LSU AgCenter’s annual Northeast Louisiana rice field day will be held July 21 at the Elliot Colvin farm and the Rayville Civic Center in Rayville, La.

The field day will begin with a farm tour at 9 a.m. and conclude at noon with lunch at the civic center.

Topics will include rice varieties, rice fertility recommendations, rice insects and a look at the current crop situation. In addition, Reece Langley of the USA Rice Federation will give a farm bill update.

The Colvin farm can be reached from Rayville by going north 4.9 miles on state Highway 137/U.S. Highway 425, then turning right (east) on Bardel Road and going 1.9 miles. Look for the research plots on the left.

From Oak Ridge on the north, the farm can be reached by going 5 miles south from the Bayou Lafourche bridge on state Highway 137/U.S. Highway 425, then turning left (east) on Bardel Road and going 1.9 miles.
