June 17: LSU AgCenter Northeast Research Station Pest Management and Crop Production Field Day, Northeast Research Station, LSU AgCenter, 4589 Hwy. 605, St. Joseph, La. Field tours conducted by LSU AgCenter research and extension faculty highlighting pest management and/or agronomic research in corn, rice, cotton, and soybean. 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided following the field tour. June 18: LSU AgCenter’s Red River Research Station field day, Bossier City, La. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with the program beginning at 9 a.m. Planned topics for the field tours include: weed control in row crops and pastures; row crop variety trials; early-season insect control in cotton; seed treatments for nematode management in corn and soybeans; dallisgrass and fescue forage production; soybean and southern pea breeding. Field tour speakers will include LSU AgCenter research and Extension personnel. The station is located off U.S. Highway 71, 3 miles south of the Jimmie Davis Bridge, at 262 Research Station Drive. July 14-16: InfoAg 2009 Conference, Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza, Springfield, Mo. The event brings together the latest in precision farming, information management and communication technologies. July 16-17: LSU AgCenter Louisiana Natural Resources Symposium, Lod Cook Conference Center and Hotel on the LSU campus in Baton Rouge, La. Theme of the symposium is “Bioenergy Opportunities for Louisiana.” The 2009 symposium will feature papers from leading international experts from universities and private industry covering issues related to bioenergy. The target audience includes land managers, foresters, land owners, entrepreneurs, researchers and those interested in this emerging opportunity, he added. Registration fees are $125 until July 2 and $150 after that date. Registration for students is available at $25 until July 2 and $30 after. The registration fee includes a copy of the conference proceedings, continental breakfasts, coffee breaks and lunch.
