UT Beef Field Day June 11

Cattle management and hay production seminars will be of interest to cattle producers attending the 2009 UT Beef and Forage Field Day.
The event is being held June 11 by the University of Tennessee Institute of Agriculture at the Blount Unit of the East Tennessee AgResearch and Education Center near Knoxville.
Activities will begin with registration and a trade show at 7:00 a.m.
The keynote presenter will be Raymond Cooper, a producer from Cannon County, Tenn. His talk is titled “I Have Fed No Hay to 120 Cows in Six Years.”
Following the keynote presentation, attendees will divide into small groups to hear expert presenters discuss such topics as pasture management, weed control, and addressing fuel and fertilizer costs.
Additional talks will cover the economics of herd management, budgets for grazing systems, and soil testing. Time will be available for all participants to attend each session as well as to visit the trade exhibits.
A youth program will be presented concurrent to the main program, and both programs will conclude with a sponsored lunch.

The UT Beef and Forage Field Day is a cooperative effort of UT AgResearch and the UT Extension Eastern Region. The Blount Unit of the East Tennessee Research and Education Center is located on Singleton Station Road, which is approximately 8 miles south of the UT agricultural campus in Knoxville off U.S. Highway 129. If approaching from the south, Singleton Station Road is just over 1 mile north of the intersection of U.S. 129 and I-140 (Pellissippi Parkway).
