Arkansas accepting catfish loss applications

The Arkansas Agriculture Department is accepting grant applications from Arkansas catfish farmers who suffered feed losses from natural disasters during the period from Feb. 28 through Dec. 31, 2007.
Applications must be submitted by close of business Friday, April 4, 2008.
The department earlier distributed grants to Arkansas catfish farmers for feed losses due to natural disasters during 2005, 2006 and through Feb. 27, 2007. Funding was from a block grant provided by the USDA.
Phase II of the Catfish Grant Program results from the Agriculture Appropriations Act of 2008 passed by the U.S. Congress in late 2007. The act extended the Catfish Grant Program through Dec. 31, 2007.
