NCGA blog for corn issue ‘junkies’

Aug 7, 2007 10:02 AM

The National Corn Growers Association is launching a new blog to focus attention on key issues about corn and corn growers. The blog — “Corn Commentary” at corncommentary.com — will provide an informal and interactive perspective, it said.

“NCGA created this blog to provide a lighter, more personalized look at corn, agriculture and the events of the day that affect the nation’s corn producers,” said NCGA President Ken McCauley. “It’s meant to be interactive, like a discussion with good friends in the coffee shop.”

Current topics explored on Corn Commentary include a lighthearted look at a Hollywood production to promote E85, a serious discussion of meat prices and a visual demonstration of the price of movie popcorn. (The latter counters claims that ethanol and higher corn prices have resulted in higher popcorn prices for moviegoers.)

NCGA invites corn growers and others interested in the issues to join the blog at http://corncommentary.com and comment on any of the topics.

“We certainly want corn growers to have some fun with this,” McCauley said. “There’s more than one way to discuss a serious issue. I hope everyone checks out the blog, and if they see something they’d like to comment on, don’t be shy.”
