Mississippi entomologists set Nov. 7-8 meetings

THE MISSISSIPPI Entomological Association will hold its annual Insect Control Conference Nov. 7-8 at the Bost Extension Center at Mississippi State University. This year's theme is Exciting New Tools for Entomology.

The schedule for Nov. 7 includes a keynote address by Mike Borel, president, Valent USA.

Kenneth Hood, Mississippi farmer, will speak on the implementation and benefits of new entomological tools on the farm. Thomas Meade, project creation biology leader for entomology, DowAgro Sciences, will discuss cotton biotechnology solutions for the future. Other speakers will include Lester Spell, Mississippi Commissioner of Agriculture, and John Abbott, state regulatory team leader, Syngenta Crop Protection.

Other presentations will cover control of fire ants with acoustical signals, the impact of honey bees on Bt cotton production, management of Formosan termites, and research on stinkbugs, plant bugs and armyworms.
