An informational meeting on the potential of mint species as a new high-value crop for Mississippi will be held June 23 at the North Mississippi Research and Extension Center, 5421 Highway 145 South, Verona, Miss.

All interested producers, Extension agents, and researchers are encouraged to attend.

The meeting will provide information on the feasibility, production techniques, economics, and investments and return on mint as an alternative crop.

Speakers will include Mint Industry Research Council members Rocky Lundy, executive director, and Greg Biza, corporate board director.

Registration is at 6:30 p.m., followed by a tour of research plots of peppermint, spearmint, and Japanese mint.

A meal will be provided by MAFES.

At 8 p.m. there will be a presentation on mint production and processing, followed by a question-and-answer session.
