Marvin Hare new Rice Foundation vice chairman

The Rice Foundation board of directors, meeting in Dallas during the USA Rice Federation annual business meetings, elected Marvin Hare Jr., a rice producer from Newport, Ark., as vice chairman.

The board also approved funding for two national research projects, Soil-Based Nitrogen Test for Fertilizer Management in Rice and Midseason Nitrogen Applications Aided by Remote Sensing Technology. Both are three-year projects.

The Rice Foundation serves as the research and education program arm for the U.S. rice industry. The Foundation represents all segments of the rice industry.
