Crop prices up in January

Even with some ups and downs in commodity markets over the last month, prices for most commodities are solidly ahead of this time a year ago.

U.S. crop prices rose 4 percent in January and are up 12 percent from January 2011, according to the latest USDA report.

Prices paid by farmers are 6 percent higher than a year ago.
