Northeast Arkansas field day Aug. 7

The Northeast Arkansas Rice/Soybean Field Day will be held near Weiner, Ark., on Aug. 7. The latest University of Arkansas rice and soybean research for northeast Arkansas will be discussed.

Rice plots that will be toured are located southwest of Weiner near Lake Hogue. Soybean plots are located northeast of Weiner on Scott Matthews’ farm.

The rice tour will begin at 8 a.m. and will feature stops on varieties, fertility, insects and diseases.

The soybean tour begins at 9:45 a.m. and will feature stops on varieties, weed control, insects and diseases.

Speakers include University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture specialists and researchers such as Chuck Wilson, Gus Lorenz, Nathan Slaton, Rick Cartwright, Jeremy Ross, Bob Scott, and Scott Monfort.

A sponsored steak lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m.
