Arkansas Women in Agriculture (ARWIA) will host an Annie’s Project Retreat in August at Mount Eagle Retreat Center near Clinton, Arkansas. During the retreat, participants will learn about business plans, legal issues, record-keeping, communication, insurance, federal programs, grants for producers, financial statements, and much more. The retreat will begin at 6:00 p.m. on August 4 and end around 2 p.m. on August 6.
Of the retreat, Carrie Hirmer, ARWIA Project Director said, “This is a great time for women involved in agriculture to get away for a few days and concentrate on their farm business. Participants will gain a great amount of information and resources to help within their agricultural operations as well as have some time to really connect with other women and enjoy some much-needed rest and relaxation time in the beautiful mountains of north-central Arkansas.”
Those attending will receive an Annie’s Project binder, their own copy of Quicken software and many other resources. The cost to attend the retreat is only $75 per person and includes all meals, lodging and materials. A limited number of scholarships are available for those with financial need. Class size is limited.
“Due to funding issues, this is the last class we have scheduled for 2011, so I encourage those who are interested in attending to take advantage of this opportunity and register early,” Hirmer said.
