National FFA plans annual convention

Individual and organizational achievements will be celebrated at the 78th national FFA convention in Louisville, Ky., Oct. 26-29. Each year, the annual FFA convention — the largest annual student gathering in the world — reaches thousands of students, advisors, parents, alumni and sponsors with the organization's mission. The theme for this year's convention is “Living to Serve.”
“This year's theme highlights the ideals FFA has represented for more than 75 years,” said Larry D. Case, national FFA advisor. “With the support of caring and committed agriculture teachers, our student members are actively encouraged to give back to others through servant leadership — not just as students, but throughout their adult lives.”
At the convention, FFA student members will compete in national career development events, conduct official delegate business, learn about new developments in agriculture and meet friends from FFA chapters far and wide. They also will enjoy, inspirational speakers, musical acts, and a full-scale rodeo.
At the culmination of the convention, the new national FFA officers will be elected.
Convention-related activities and events occur in local chapters throughout the school year and involve all aspects of organizational programming. The “Living to Serve” theme will apply to the organization's National FFA Week in February 2006, and in year-end chapter and state banquets and celebrations.
FFA is a national youth organization of 476,732 student members preparing for leadership and careers in science, business and technology of agriculture with 7,223 local chapters in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
