The LSU AgCenter’s Northeast Research Station will host its annual field day June 13 at the facility on Louisiana Highway 605, 3 miles north of St. Joseph, La.

The program will highlight agronomic and pest management research with cotton, soybean, corn and rice on Sharkey clay and silt loam soils, said Donnie Miller, research coordinator at the station.

The program will begin at 8 a.m. with field tours starting shortly thereafter and end with a sponsored lunch.

Topics for the tours include nitrogen fertilization timing in corn by Rick Mascagni; weed management in corn and rice, Bill Williams; weed management in soybean and cotton, Miller; soybean planting date research, Ernie Clawson; nematode and nitrogen management research, Gene Burris; and cotton water use research, Clawson.

All are LSU AgCenter scientists stationed at the Northeast Station or the Macon Ridge Station near Winnsboro, La. In addition, LSU AgCenter administrators and scientists from Baton Rouge will provide updates on programs of interest to producers, consultants and agribusinesses in northeast Louisiana.
