Cathleen Williams, an associate professor in the LSU AgCenter School of Animal Sciences, has been named the 2011 winner of the Land O’Lakes/Purina LLC Teaching Award in Dairy Production, which is presented by the American Dairy Science Association to recognize outstanding teaching of undergraduate students in dairy science.

The national award is given to a member of the association who has been an active teacher for at least 10 years. Williams has been a member of the faculty in the LSU AgCenter since 1998. She has received 10 teaching and advising awards, including the 2010 Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching-Council for the Advancement and Support of Education Louisiana Professor of the Year Award.

A native of Bogalusa, La., Williams received her bachelor’s degree from Louisiana State University in 1983, her master’s degree from the University of Georgia in 1991, and her Ph.D. from Auburn University in 1998.
