The Extension Service offices of Fayette and Shelby counties in Tennessee will be holding a Large Animal Emergency Rescue Seminar May 22. The event will take place at 5 p.m. at the Agricenter Showplace Arena Meeting Place.

The seminar is open to anyone interested in learning about human safety in a disaster when dealing with large animals and large animal emergency preparedness. Dr. Jennifer Dunlap will discuss various disaster scenarios such as floods, barn fires and tornados. There will be classroom and demonstration instruction for participants on handling horses during a disaster.

Available for participants to work with will be some large animal Disaster Animal Response Team (DART) Equipment such as the portable corral, large animal glides, equine first aid kit, and captive bolt gun. Harnessing a demo horse with the Anderson Sling will be demonstrated.
