Stabenow at Delta Council: features of farm bill – Part 1

First the Senate Agriculture Committee and then the House Agriculture Committee passed their versions of the new farm bill in business meetings last week (week of May 13). In her first public appearance since the action, Senate Agriculture Committee Chair Debbie Stabenow told members of the Delta Council the bill would provide a strong safety net for farmers while reducing expenditures significantly. Later, Stabenow discussed the bill’s features in a meeting with ag editors. (Standing beside Stabenow at the press conference are Sens. Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker, both Republicans from Mississippi, and Delta Council President Bill Litton.)
