If there was ever a time residents of the Delta needed a good laugh, it was at this year’s annual meeting of the Delta Council. While much of the meeting was devoted to an update on the flood situation confronting the Delta, residents also heard a spirited discussion of this year’s political races between Democratic activist Jere Nash and Arnie Hederman, chairman of the Republican Party in Mississippi. Nash compared one of the state’s political parties to the rising floodwaters.
