Agriculture Deputy Secretary to travel to New Orleans, highlight economic opportunities

Focus on beginning farmers and ranchers, importance of access to healthy foods
  • On Feb. 26, Agriculture Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan and American celebrity chef Paul Prudhomme will visit a New Orleans farm to host a cooking demonstration and tasting of local produce with community farmers to highlight the strength and resiliency of American agriculture and economic opportunity associated with local and regional food production. 

On Feb. 26, Agriculture Deputy Secretary Kathleen Merrigan and American celebrity chef Paul Prudhomme will visit a New Orleans farm to host a cooking demonstration and tasting of local produce with community farmers to highlight the strength and resiliency of American agriculture and economic opportunity associated with local and regional food production.

Merrigan will announce a new USDA report that highlights new economic opportunities for farmers and ranchers by utilizing food hubs to aggregate their product. She will also highlight USDA’s commitment to increasing economic opportunities for local farmers and ranchers while expanding access to fresh, local foods.
