The member associations of the Southern Cotton Ginners Association are holding their annual meetings in conjunction with the Mid-South Farm & Gin Show at Memphis.

Among events scheduled are an officers/directors reception and luncheon Thursday, March 2, at 11:30 a.m. at the Peabody, followed by the SCGA annual meeting at 1:30 p.m., also at the Peabody.

Speakers for the afternoon program, which wil focus on cotton quality and cottonseed issues, will include Van Murphy, president of the National Cotton Ginners Association; Vikki Martin, associate director of fiber quality for Cotton Incorporated; Dr. Tommy Valco, ARS-CSREES Cotton Technology Transfer and Education administrator; Dr. Richard Byler, research leader of the USDA Cotton Ginning Research Laboratory at Stoneville, Miss.; and Attorney John W. Lewis, who will discuss legal issues related to cottonseed.

Anyone interested in hearing these discussions is welcome to attend.

The honors banquet for association members is Thursday evening, at which the Ginner of the Year Award will be presented to Carurthersville, Mo., Ginner Gary Hayes.

Speaker for the banquet will be William Bearden, writer, producer, and director.
