FMC offers online soybean weed control training module

• The training modules are intended to re-introduce basic weed management strategies and provide a deeper look at soybean production best practices.

FMC Corporation is helping to educate growers, retailers and crop consultants on soybean best production practices and weed management strategies through its CropPro University: Authority Herbicide Training Module, a set of three online training modules available at http://www.FMCAuthority.com.

Through March 16, participants have the opportunity to complete three online training modules for one continuing education unit (CEU) credit.

“The training modules are intended to re-introduce basic weed management strategies and provide a deeper look at soybean production best practices,” said Matt Foster, product manager for FMC Agricultural Products.

“Better and efficient management practices are critical to utilize the technology available to us and to maintain the value and life cycle of input traits.”

To date, more than 2,000 growers and retailers have participated in the Authority training modules.

The FMC CropPro Training Module platform offers retailers and growers the convenience of online training, allowing them to save on registration fees and travel costs typically associated with professional development.

The training provides an in-depth look at the value of weed management, including the benefits of pre-emergence herbicides and the Authority line of products.

“Early season weeds kill yield potential that cannot be regained,” said Foster.

“A diversified weed management program including a pre-emergence herbicide is a key to higher yields. Plan your applications early, and don’t assume that a total postemergence weed control program will handle tough weeds or preserve that full-season yield potential.

“Plus, there is the right Authority brand for the right time, weed spectrum, tillage and rotation practice.”

In 2011, 16 weed species were confirmed as glyphosate resistant worldwide.

Researchers indicate that applying a pre-emergence herbicide is a good practice for reducing the number of glyphosate applications, thus reducing selection pressure put on glyphosate.

Whether applied in the spring or in the fall as a part of a comprehensive burndown and pre-emergence program, the Authority line of herbicides can help manage weed resistance and provide long-lasting residual control on tough broadleaf weeds that rob crops of vital nutrients, sunlight and water.

Using Authority brands helps soybean fields to start clean and stay clean, allowing for flexibility, convenience and optimized yield potential.
