USA Rice Federation farm bill meetings in Louisiana

USA Rice Federation will provide industry members with an overview and explanation of key provisions of the Food, Conservation and Energy Act of 2008 at three educational meetings scheduled June 18 and 19 in south Louisiana.

Another meeting is being planned for northeast Louisiana for mid-July with details to be announced at a later date.

The meetings will provide rice producers, landowners, other industry members and allied business representative answers to questions they have about the new farm bill and rice-specific provisions.

The first meeting will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the Calcasieu Parish Agricultural Extension Office, 7101 Gulf Highway, Lake Charles, La.

On Thursday, June 19, USA Rice will conduct two industry meetings.

The first will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Ville Platte Rice Drier, 750 SE Railroad Avenue, Ville Platte, La. Lunch will be provided by the Evangeline Parish Farm Bureau.

The second meeting on June 19 will be held from 7 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Acadia Parish Agricultural Extension Office, 157 Cherokee Drive, Crowley, La.

All rice industry members and others involved in agriculture are encouraged to attend one of these meetings.
