Electronic trading record at MGEX

More About:

Electronic trading of Minneapolis Grain Exchange futures and options reached 10,592 contracts yesterday, marking the second highest electronic trading volume in Exchange history.

The record of 11,146 futures and options contracts traded electronically was set on June 3, 2009.

The volume comes on the heels of last month’s record October electronic trading record for hard red spring wheat futures and options. October 2009 ended as the fifth best electronic volume month in Exchange history.

“Economic factors and seasonal trends have combined providing movement to the grain markets,” says Mark G. Bagan, president and CEO of MGEX. MGEX also reports increased trading and open interest in soft red winter wheat index.
