Ducks Unlimited has named Barton James to a new position, the Director of Agriculture Conservation Policy, increasing the organization's emphasis on agriculture conservation.

“Bart is a leader in agriculture conservation lobbying efforts. His background in grassroots advocacy is a valuable asset,” said Scott Sutherland, director of the governmental affairs office. “His knowledge of agricultural issues impacting waterfowl conservation has been very helpful in fulfilling our mission.”

DU said it will continue to advocate programs which provide voluntary, incentive-based conservation opportunities for farmers, ranchers, and waterfowl. In addition, James will work on new initiatives, such as production of those biofuels beneficial to people, conservation, and waterfowl habitat.

“Background and experience made him the ideal candidate to take DU's involvement agriculture policy to the next level,” said Sutherland. “Involving DU members in our advocacy is the next step for Ducks Unlimited.”

James will continue working from DU's Governmental Affairs Office in Washington, D.C., where he has served for three years as a governmental affairs representative.
