Dow, Barenbrug to co-promote unique tall fescue

This agreement brings together market experience and technologies that will expand product lines and provide comprehensive, integrated solutions to improve livestock productivity.

Dow AgroSciences LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Company, and Barenbrug USA announced that Dow AgroSciences will co-promote BarOptima PLUS E34 tall fescue with beneficial endophyte.

This agreement brings together market experience and technologies (improved seed, range and pasture herbicides) that will expand product lines and provide comprehensive, integrated solutions to improve livestock productivity.

Under the terms of the agreement, Dow AgroSciences will co-promote the unique and patented BarOptima PLUSE34 tall fescue in the U.S. range and pasture market with an integrated program that eliminates tall fescue with harmful endophytes and establishes a pasture of tall fescue with beneficial endophytes that is safe, persistent, highly digestible and increases average daily gain of cattle.

“Barenbrug brings innovative tall fescue grass seed with beneficial endophytes that can benefit ranchers looking to maximize their livestock production,” said Dave Owens, U.S. range and pasture marketing manager, Dow AgroSciences.

“By combining their knowledge and unique tall fescue variety with our 50 years of experience in the range and pasture marketplace, we have an opportunity to bring differentiated solutions and value to ranchers in the U.S.

“This agreement is another example of how Dow AgroSciences is delivering on its growth strategy through technological innovation and collaboration.”

“This agreement with Dow AgroSciences will enhance our effort to bring improved pasture genetics to producers in the U.S.,” said John Walther, vice-president for forage and turf professional sales, Barenbrug USA.

“Dow AgroSciences has dedicated commercial and technical resources focused on livestock productivity, and we believe their infrastructure will provide the most effective program to establish BarOptima PLUS E34 tall fescue.”
